How the puzzles work
Trace
Thread one unbroken path through every square without lifting your finger or crossing yourself. The path must reach the numbered checkpoints in order.
Regions
Place eight markers so there is one in every row, every column, and every colored region. No two markers may touch, including diagonally.
Balance
Fill the grid with two symbols so each row and column ends up evenly split, with no three of the same symbol in a row. The small signs between squares are constraints: an equals sign means those two squares match, and a cross means they differ.
Numbers
Fill the grid so every row, every column, and every outlined box contains each digit exactly once.
Bridges
Connect every island so the whole network is joined. Each numbered island needs exactly that many bridges, drawn straight across, never crossing, and no more than two between the same pair.
Blocks
Divide the grid into rectangles so every number sits in a block of exactly that many squares, and every square belongs to one block.
Cipher
A quotation has been scrambled, with every letter standing for another. The same letter always stands for the same letter, and no two letters share one. Tap a letter, then type what you think it is, and every copy changes together. Spaces and punctuation are left as they were. When you finish, the decoded quote is shown on its own, with its author, before the Solved screen.
Mosaic
Fill cells to reveal a hidden tile. The numbers beside each row and column give the length of every run of filled cells, in order, with at least one empty cell between runs. Use Fill for cells you know are filled and Cross for cells you know are empty; tap a marked cell again to clear it, or drag to mark a whole line. A number fades when its line is complete. New to it? Tap Help on the board for worked examples, or open Learn by doing for a small practice puzzle that walks you through it one step at a time.
Facets
Fill the whole board with the pieces, using every piece once, with no overlaps and no gaps. Drag a piece from the tray onto the board. Tap any piece, in the tray or on the board, to turn it; drag a piece off the board to put it back. Pieces turn but never flip over. A gap turns red when none of the pieces left can fill it.
Tether
Join each pair of dots of the same colour with a line. Lines never cross, and every square of the board must end up under a line, so every pair is joined and nothing is left empty. Drag from a dot towards its partner; drag back over your own line to shorten it, or start from a dot again to redraw it. Drawing over another colour's line cuts that line back. Each dot also carries a shape, so colour is never the only clue. A square, or a pair of dots, turns red when no line can reach it any more.
Every puzzle is generated with exactly one solution. If you're stuck, there's always a path forward from the squares you've already filled — no guessing is ever required.
Common questions
I'm being asked to subscribe again on a new device
Open Settings inside the app and choose Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple Account your subscription is on. An active subscription covers both iPhone and iPad.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Open Settings inside the app and choose Manage Subscription, or go to apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions and sign in with your Apple Account. Cancel during the free trial and you won't be charged. After that, cancelling stops future renewals but doesn't refund the current period — you keep access until it ends.
Are there hints?
Yes, every puzzle has a Hint button. In all but Cipher, the first tap shows what to look at, with a line explaining why, and Apply on the second tap makes the move. If something you've already placed is wrong, the hint points that out first and Apply takes it back. In Cipher, a hint reveals one letter, the one you've selected if it still needs one, and it's shown in copper. A hint is only ever something you could have worked out yourself, so it never gives you a guess. We count how often hints are used, anonymously and by puzzle type, and nothing more.
Reminders aren't appearing
Check three things. First, that reminders aren't set to Off in the app's Settings. Second, that notifications are allowed for Executive Puzzles in your device's system settings. Third, note that reminders are delivered quietly and won't interrupt an active Focus — they'll be waiting in Notification Center instead.
Reminders arrive during my meetings
Turn on "Avoid interrupting meetings" in Settings and grant calendar access. The app will then look for a real gap in your schedule instead of following a fixed clock.
Why does the app want calendar access?
Only to check whether you're free, so a reminder lands between meetings rather than during one. Your calendar is read on your device and never leaves it. The app works fully without granting access.
Can I get a refund?
We don't refund or credit the unused part of a subscription period when you cancel — you keep access until the period ends. If you were charged in error, Apple handles those requests, not us: visit reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with your Apple Account.
Do you have an Android version?
Not currently. Executive Puzzles is built natively for iPhone and iPad.
